Blue Demons Clash with No. 23 Marquette on Saturday

Longtime foes meet for 85th time with coverage on CBS Sports Network
CHICAGO – DePaul women's basketball will make the short trip up to Milwaukee to face 23rd-ranked Marquette on Saturday, Jan. 13 at the Al McGuire Center. The 85th all-time meeting between the two foes will be broadcast nationally on CBS Sports Network with John Sadak and Isis Young on the call with tipoff scheduled for 8 p.m. CST.
Noting the Blue Demons
DePaul (9-8, 1-3 BIG EAST) heads into the weekend looking to snap a three-game skid after most recently falling to then-No. 21 Creighton 75-68 last weekend.
Against the Bluejays, graduate forward Jorie Allen shined with her second double-double of the season behind a career high 22 points to go with 10 boards. Allen scored 11 points in the third quarter alone.
Michelle Sidor finished in double figures for the third time in the last four games with 13 points in addition to three assists. The Upper Saddle River, N.J. native has been a consistent threat from behind the arc this season, shooting 47.7 percent from three which is ninth in Division I.
Anaya Peoples has contributed in a multitude of ways for the Blue Demons, recording 15 double-figure performances including eight 20+ outings for a scoring average of 18.5 points per game which sits fourth in the BIG EAST. Peoples is also averaging a team-best 7.4 rebounds a game while also leading the team in assists (58) and blocks (16).
Through four BIG EAST games, four Blue Demons are averaging double figures paced by Peoples' 15 points a contest.
As a team, DePaul is grabbing 11.6 steals a game which is best in the conference and 23rd nationally. The Blue Demons have recorded double-digit steals in the last seven games. Katlyn Gilbert has totaled four or more steals on eight occasions this season and ranks eighth in Division I with 50 takeaways on the season.
The Blue Demons average 19 assists per game which is 17th in the country and have dished out 20 or more on seven outings this season.
Scouting the Golden Eagles
Marquette is 14-2 on the season and 3-2 in BIG EAST play after using a strong second-half to take down Seton Hall on the road on Wednesday evening. MU started the season 11-0 and has been led by a pair of seniors in Liza Karlen and Jordan King. Karlen averages a team-best 17.5 points a game in addition to 7.5 rebounds. King is adding 14.8 points, 4.3 rebounds and 3.8 assists per game.
Megan Duffy is in her fifth season leading the program and has totaled a 101-39 record at the helm. The Golden Eagles are a perfect 9-0 at home this season.
Series Stuff
The Blue Demons lead the all-time series 49-35 although Marquette has won the last three meetings. The Golden Eagles hold a 23-12 edge in games played in Milwaukee.
