DePaul Welcomes Xavier to Wintrust Arena on Tuesday

Blue Demons won first meeting on the season in December
CHICAGO – DePaul women's basketball will play three of its next four games at home beginning with a matchup against Xavier on Tuesday, Jan. 16. Tipoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. from Wintrust Arena with FloHoops providing the coverage.

Noting the Blue Demons
DePaul sits at 9-9 on the 2023-24 campaign and 1-4 in BIG EAST play after a tough shooting outing saw then-No. 23 Marquette hand the Blue Demons their fourth-consecutive loss. The Blue Demons look to close the back half of January strong behind veteran leadership.
Three players are averaging double figures in BIG EAST play led by Anaya Peoples and her 14.0 points per game. Katlyn Gilbert follows with 11.6 points to go with 3.8 steals a contest while Jorie Allen has posted 10.4 points and a team-best 7.4 rebounds.
In conference contests, the Blue Demons are averaging a BIG EAST-best 12.8 steals per game, up from 11.4 in all games which ranks 21st nationally. Gilbert's 54 steals on the year is eighth among all Division I players.
Additionally, the Blue Demons have shot efficiently from the charity stripe, posting a 78-percent clip through five conference games. Against Marquette on Saturday, DePaul went 10-for-10 from the line, remaining perfect in a game for the first time since February of 2019.
As a team, DePaul also ranks top-20 in assists at 18.5 helpers per game. In games with 20 assists or more as a team, the Blue Demons are 8-1.
Scouting Xavier
The Musketeers are 1-13 on the season and 0-5 in league play after dropping a 61-47 decision to Seton Hall on Saturday. Xavier has three players averaging eight or more points in conference play, led by Aizhanique Mayo's 9.6 per game. Graduate forward Nila Blackford is nearly averaging a double-double on the season with 9.0 points and a team-best 9.0 rebounds per contest. As a team, the Musketeers are holding opponents to 28-percent from behind the arc which ranks fifth in the BIG EAST. Billi Chambers is in her first season leading the Xavier program.
Series Stuff
DePaul holds the all-time edge over the Musketeers, 26-1, and have won the last 25 meetings. When the two sides met in December, DePaul came away with a 76-55 victory at the Cintas Center.
