DePaul Tangles with Ninth-Ranked Connecticut on Saturday

Blue Demons and Huskies face off at 1 p.m. CST on SNY
STORRS, Conn. – DePaul women's basketball returns to action on Saturday, Jan. 20 when the Blue Demons visit ninth-ranked Connecticut for the 25th all-time meeting between the two programs. Tipoff from a sold-out Gampel Pavilion is slated for 1 p.m. CST and live coverage can be found on SNY or streamed on the FOX Sports App with Allen Bestwick, Meghan Culmo and Chelsea Sherrod on the call.
Noting the Blue Demons
DePaul returned to the win column on Tuesday with a 32-point victory over Xavier to improve to 10-9 on the year and 2-4 in BIG EAST games. Three Blue Demons finished in double figures with senior guard Michelle Sidor tying her career-high with 19 points on five three-point field goals while Anaya Peoples recorded her third double-double of the season with 11 points and 10 rebounds.
Against the Musketeers, DePaul used its sixth different starting lineup of the season as freshman guard Shakara McCline made the first start of her career and finished with seven points, three assists, two rebounds and two steals.
Peoples leads four players averaging double figures on the season with 17.6 points per game, which is fifth in the BIG EAST, while leading the Blue Demons in rebounds (7.5 rpg), assists (3.6 apg) and blocks (17). Sidor has come on strong in conference play, reaching double-digit scoring in three of the last four games while shooting extremely efficient from behind the arc at a 48-percent clip which ranks sixth in Division I.
As a unit, DePaul is top-25 nationally in a quartet of categories including assists (18.6 apg – 19th) and steals (11.3 spg – 23rd). The Blue Demons are 9-1 when dishing out 20 or more assists in a game and have grabbed 10 or more steals in 12 outings this season.
Scouting UConn
No. 9 Connecticut is 15-3 on the season and 7-0 in league play, with all three losses coming to teams now ranked in the top-15 nationally. The Huskies are coming off an 83-59 victory at Seton Hall on Wednesday.
Four players are averaging double figures for UConn led by preseason All-American and BIG EAST Player of the Year, Paige Bueckers and her 19.8 points per game. Senior forward Aaliyah Edwards follows Bueckers with 16.7 points and a team-best 8.3 rebounds per game.
Geno Auriemma is in his 39th season leading the Connecticut program.
Series Stuff
UConn has owned the series by a 23-1 margin including a 10-0 record on their home court. Last time the two sides met, the Huskies edged the Blue Demons by one possession, 72-69, in February of 2023 at Wintrust Arena.
