Blue Demons Welcome St. John’s to Wintrust Arena on Thursday

Tipoff set for 7 p.m. on FloHoops
CHICAGO – DePaul women's basketball (10-10, 2-5 BIG EAST) opens a two-game homestand on Thursday evening as St. John's visits Wintrust Arena. Tipoff is set for 7 p.m. with Matt Rodewald and Kenny McReynolds calling the game on FloHoops.

The Blue Demons will raise awareness to heart health and honor Maggie Dixon, an assistant coach on Doug Bruno's staff from 2000-2005, who passed from heart arrythmia at age 28. DePaul Athletics is partnering with RUSH Physical Therapy and the Matt Magine Jr. One Shot Foundation to offer compression only CPR training prior to and during Thursday's game. Fans, students, alumni, and staff attending the game can sign up via the link here for a 10-minute training session to learn this vital lifesaving technique.
Noting the Blue Demons
DePaul returns home after a setback to then-No. 9 Connecticut over the weekend. Sophomore guard Maeve McErlane led the team with a career-high in a conference game with 15 points on five three-point field goals.
Katlyn Gilbert and Anaya Peoples added eight points apiece against the Huskies while Peoples grabbed a game-high nine rebounds.
Peoples leads all Blue Demons with 17.1 points per game including eight 20-point games while also averaging team-highs in rebounds (7.6), assists (3.5) and blocks (.94).
Gilbert ranks 12th in Division I with 56 steals on the season while her average (2.8) is good for 20th. The graduate guard has improved her scoring average in BIG EAST play to 10.4 ppg, up 3.4 points from non-league games.
Michelle Sidor's 46.2-percent efficiency from three-point range is seventh nationally. The Upper Saddle River, N.J. native has netted a team-best 48 threes on 104 attempts.
Graduate forward Jorie Allen is averaging 10.3 points per game to go with 6.3 rebounds.
As a team, the Blue Demons rank 20th in assists per game with 18.4 helpers a contest and are 9-1 this season when dishing out 20 or more assists. DePaul's 11.0 steals per game also rank top-30 in the country.
Scouting St. John's
The Red Storm enter the game 11-9 on the season and 5-3 in BIG EAST play after dropping a 74-66 overtime decision at Seton Hall on Monday. St. John's won four of its first five conference games before dropping two of the last three contests.
Unique Drake leads three Johnnies averaging double figures with 17.7 points per game including a 41-percent clip from deep. St. John's defense is allowing league opponents to 58.4 points a contest, which is third-best in the BIG EAST.
Joe Tartamella is in his 12th season leading the program in Queens.
Series Stuff
DePaul holds the edge in the all-time series 25-7 despite dropping both regular season meetings a season ago. The Blue Demons hold an 11-4 advantage in games played in Chicago.
