
DePaul Track and Field Hosts Second Annual Blue Demon Alumni Classic

The Blue Demons welcome 16 schools to Gately Indoor Park
CHICAGO – DePaul track and field hosts its second annual Blue Demon Alumni Classic starting Friday, Jan. 26. The two-day long meet kicks off with some field events at 4 p.m. CT. Saturday's competition is set to begin at 11 a.m. CT.
16 different schools are scheduled to compete at Gately Indoor Park, including programs like UIC, Loyola Chicago, Chicago State, Northwestern, Wisconsin and Notre Dame.
On Saturday, Jan. 27, DePaul track and field alums are invited to a reception in the second floor club room at noon. Please use the link posted on the right to RSVP. At 1 p.m., DePaul asks its fans to join them for a senior day recognition, honoring all graduating student athletes.
BIG EAST Field Athlete of the Week, Billie Martin, is set to kick off the competition in the women's weight throw alongside Noelle Malkamaki and Kash Allen. Martin is looking to nab her fourth first place finish of the season.
The women's high jump will also begin at 4 p.m., with Eveline Reno representing the Blue Demons.
At 5:30 p.m., the men's 60m hurdles start with Paul Goins competing in heat one and Darius Brown in heat two. After winning his second consecutive gold in the event at the Notre Dame Invitational last weekend, Brown hopes for a third.
Next up, the women's 60m dash prelims take place with Nevaeh Lowe in heat one and the Mays sisters, Maia and Jetta, in heat three. The men's 60m dash prelims follow, Dominic Cole will run in heat one while Cameron Attucks competes in heat three.
At 6 p.m., more field events occur starting with the men's weight throw. Thomas Goggin, Alex Bernstein and Ian Cox are all set to compete in flight two.
Back on the oval, Isabella Orozco will run in the first heat of the women's 800m. Jason Gould partakes in heat one of the men's 800 at 6:30 p.m.
Alicia Jones is the lone Blue Demon to participate in the women's long jump also starting at 6:30 p.m. At 6:45 p.m., Claire Dunn, Nadja Moll compete in heat one of the women's 300m dash. Alyssa Leak will also run the event, competing in heat three. Joshua Edmonds represents DePaul on the men's side, running in heat one of the men's 300m dash.
Rounding out the first day of competition will be the men's and women's 200m dash. M. Mays and Lowe represent the women, competing in heats one and two respectively. Cole and Attucks will run in heat two of the men's competition with Charles Lewis partaking in heat two.
Saturday's competition begins at 11 a.m. with the men's shot put, with Cox representing the Blue Demons in heat two.
Meaghan Andrews and Gianna Sanchez are set to run in the unseeded women's 3000m at 11:15 a.m. Following on the men's side, Griffin Lehnhardt, Mason Kreig and Jackson Thomas will also compete.
Grace Havern partakes in heat two of the unseeded women's mile, with Sofia Bologna competing in heat one of the unseeded women's 400m after.
At 1:45 p.m. and 1:55 p.m., the 60m hurdle finals for the women and men will take place featuring the qualifiers from Friday's prelims. Following the event will be the finals for the 60m men's and women's dash.
The women's triple jump, featuring Jones, Reno, Jordyn Showers and Jaiah Hopf will take place alongside the women's shot put, featuring Kindle Miles, Jessica Beckman, Allen and Malkamaki. Patrick Diakite will round out the field events with the men's high jump at 3 p.m. CT.
Seeded heats for the women's 400m begin at 2:20 p.m. with Dunn, Moll and Kayliah Motes competing in heat two. On the men's side, Jarel Terry and Daniel Fasasi are set to run the seeded men's 400m dash.
In the seeded 800m run, Alexa Havon, Sonja Nagle and Lauren Pacsi will represent the Blue Demons on the women's side, while Damian Rodriguez and Michael Parry will represent the men.
Megan Dieball and Madison Volz are set to run the seeded women's mile with Michael Ronzone, Joe Knanishu and William Previdi competing in the seeded men's mile following.
At 3:15 p.m., the seeded 3000m run begins with Olivia Borowiak and Nina Amicon competing on the women's side and Tommy Elwood competing for the men at 3:30 p.m.
To round out the day-long competition will be the women's and men's 4x400m relays. Fans can expect to see performances by Motes, Dunn, M. Mays and Moll on the women's side while Fasasi, Brown, Lewis and Terry are anticipated for the men's relay.
