Blue Demons Host Creighton in Home Opener

CHICAGO – DePaul men's tennis (1-1) returns to Lincoln Park to resume dual action against the Creighton Bluejays (3-2) on Saturday, Jan. 27 with first serve scheduled at 5:15 p.m. CT.

The Blue Demons will open its home slate at Lakeshore Sport & Fitness (LSF) on Fullerton Ave. as the team will split time between its usual home facility, XS Tennis Village and LSF this season.

Fresh off a victory over Wisconsin last week, DePaul looks to carry its momentum into its first BIG EAST match of the season. The BIG EAST Doubles Team of the Week, Jona Gitschel and Shourya Verma, led the Blue Demons to their first victory over Wisconsin in program history, 4-3.

Creighton enters Saturday's showdown fresh off a win against Chicago State on Friday afternoon, 6-1.

The Bluejays put up a 13-7 record during the 2022-23 season, clinching a 4-3 victory over DePaul in their most recent matchup. Sven Moser, Matteo Iaquinto, Leon Huck, and Pablo Torres Almeida all registered victories in the one point decision to Creighton.

Prior to the 2023 season, the Blue Demons had won ten straight matches over the Bluejays.

DePaul travels to West Point N.Y. to take on a trio of teams in Furman, Boston College, and Army Feb. 2-4. First serve on Friday, Feb. 2 will be at 4:00 p.m. CT against Furman, at the Lichtenberg Tennis Center.
