DePaul Track and Field Closes Out Day One of The Blue Demon Alumni Classic

Seven Blue Demons Take Home Gold
CHICAGO – DePaul track and field closes out day one of the Blue Demon Alumni Classic. Billie Martin and Eveline Reno ignited the competition, both placing first in their designated events to kick off the day. As the meet went on, five more Blue Demons collected first place finishes.
Martin started the day off hot, claiming her fourth first place performance in the women's weight throw this season with a final mark of 19.21m. Kash Allen and Noelle Malkamaki followed suit, securing both second and third place respectively with new personal bests.
In the women's high jump, Reno dominated, taking first place after clearing a mark of 1.70m.
Fans can expect to see Darius Brown and Paul Goins in tomorrow's 60m hurdle final after qualifying in today's prelims. Brown was first to cross the finish line with a time of 7.81 and Goins took fourth with a time of 8.32.
In the women's 60m dash prelims all three Blue Demons participating qualified for tomorrow's finals. Jetta Mays came in second with a time of 7.69, Nevaeh Lowe in third with a 7.74 time and Maia Mays in sixth with a 7.88 time.
Cameron Attucks and Dominic Cole secured spots in the men's 60m dash final tomorrow after earning first and second respectively in the prelims. Attucks ran a time of 6.85 while Cole ran a 6.90.
Isabella Orozco dominated the unseeded women's 800m coming in first place with a time of 2:15.84.
Claire Dunn earned DePaul's third gold of the evening with her first place finish in the women's 300m. Nadja Moll followed close behind, placing second with a final time of 39.60. On the men's side, Edmonds won the men's 300m after running a new personal best time of 35.66.
Back on the field, Alex Bernstein earned a new personal record in the men's weight throw with a final mark of 20.34m. Alicia Jones also picked up a first place finish in the women's long jump with a final mark of 5.30m.
In the women's 200m dash, Kayliah Motes led the pack, taking second place with a final time of 25.16. Nevaeh Lowe and Maia Mays followed behind, earning fourth and sixth place respectively.
Day one of the meet closed out with the men's 200m. Dominic Cole earned gold with a final time of 21.90. Charles Lewis and Cameron Attucks placed fourth and sixth respectively.
UP NEXT: Tomorrow, the Blue Demons open day two of the Alumni Classic Meet at 11 a.m. with the men's triple jump.
