Track and field returns to Gately Indoor Friday and Saturday
CHICAGO – For the third time this season, DePaul track and field is set to compete at its home facility, Gately Indoor in Chicago, as Wisconsin hosts the Badger Midwest Invite from Friday, Feb. 5 through Saturday, Feb. 6. This weekend also marks the first of back-to-back, two-day meets for the Blue Demons, the only such stretch on the indoor slate. As postseason competition approaches, DePaul continues to trend upward, with 15 individuals and relay squads currently ranking in the top three on the BIG EAST indoor performance lists. Daniel Fasasi sits 31st in NCAA Division I in the 400m at 46.62, while the men's 4x400m relay ranks 47th nationally at 3:09.67, positioning the program well with roughly five weeks remaining in the regular season.
Last Time Out
DePaul last competed at the Meyo Invitational with a record-heavy weekend in South Bend, fueled by a historic women's pentathlon from freshmen Ashleigh McArdle and Aubrey Phillips, a long jump title from Jaiah Hopf, and multiple school records in the jumps and sprints. The Blue Demons also picked up key victories in the triple jump from Isaiah Hopf and in the 60m hurdles from Aisha Kazeem, further bolstering the team's tally of event wins. Behind additional relay success and a series of personal and season bests across the roster, DePaul closed a highly productive two-day meet at the Loftus Sports Center.
Last Time at the Windy City Invite
During DePaul's 2024-25 appearance at the Badger Windy City Invitational, the Blue Demons delivered a strong two-day performance capped by three school records. Sprinter Demetrius Rolle opened the meet by breaking the program record in the men's 60m prelims with a 6.72 before returning for an eighth-place finish in the final.
In the field events, Alex Bernstein turned in a season-best 20.92m in the men's weight throw invite to place third, while Jaiah Hopf continued her strong form with a third-place, 6.02m leap in the women's long jump invite and later added a 12.86m mark for third in the triple jump. The Blue Demons also showcased their depth on the track, as the women's 4x400m relay, featuring returners Kayliah Motes, Nadja Moll, and Claire Dunn, captured the event title in 3:43.54. Additional season and personal bests from athletes such as Sade Miller in the 60m, Nadja Moll and Claire Dunn in the 400m and 200m, and Vivian Wyller in the 3000m rounded out the meet.
