Blue Demons Close Saturday with Balanced Effort at Gately

Track and field wraps Badger Windy City Invitational
CHICAGO – DePaul track and field closed out the Badger Windy City Invitational with a balanced team effort on Saturday at Gately Indoor, with second-place performances from Sade Miller in the 200m, Vivian Wyller in the mile, and the women's 4x400-meter relay. The Blue Demons added podium finishes and key efforts across the sprints, middle distance, relays and field events to wrap a productive weekend of competition.
On the men's side, DePaul was paced by a podium finish in the 4x400-meter relay and a strong showing in the horizontal jumps and middle distance. The quartet of Denhm Holt, Tyce Smith, Christian Ortiz‑Velazquez and Daniel Fasasi ran 3:11.23 to take third in the 4x400m relay, while Isaiah Hopf delivered a runner-up finish in the triple jump at 14.95m. In the 800m, John Bush led a deep group with a season-best 1:51.65, followed closely by Mohamed Abdullahi's personal-best 1:52.46, and Sergio Ayala added a sixth-place finish in the shot put at 15.10m.
The DePaul women turned in one of their strongest collective days of the season in the sprints, distance and field events. Miller raced to second in the 200m in 24.06, with Claire Dunn close behind in fourth, while Wyller clocked 4:59.77 for a runner-up finish in the mile and Kalina Urbaniak added a fifth-place performance in the 800m. In the field, the Blue Demons stacked top finishes in the weight throw and shot put, with Laila Richardson, Katina Maclin, Lauren Drew and Olivia Austin all landing inside the top-10, and Drew earning a podium in the shot put at 12.67m.
DePaul also continued its momentum in the vertical and horizontal jumps and closed the weekend with a strong relay finish. Amelia Barrington posted a season-best 1.64m to place fifth in the high jump, with Eveline Reno also clearing 1.64m for seventh, while Jaiah Hopf followed her Friday long jump win with a third-place triple jump mark of 12.45m. The Blue Demons capped the meet with a runner-up effort in the women's 4x400-meter relay, as Nadja Moll, Kennedy Motes, Lauren Pacsi and Dunn combined for a 3:45.14 finish.
