Veteran jumper secures women’s field athlete of the week
CHICAGO – DePaul track and field senior Jaiah Hopf was named BIG EAST Women's Field Athlete of the Week, the conference announced Tuesday afternoon. The honor marks the fifth career weekly award for the Blue Demon standout and continues a dominant season across the horizontal jumps.
Hopf secured the accolade following a strong weekend at the Badger Windy City Invitational at Gately Indoor, where she captured the long jump title with a winning mark of 6.02m. She followed the performance with a third-place finish in the triple jump at 12.45m, a mark that currently ranks second in the BIG EAST this season. The senior's efforts helped anchor a balanced team performance, Feb. 6-7.
A consistent force in the conference, Hopf's decorated résumé includes previous BIG EAST weekly honors after standout performances at the Texas Relays (April 3, 2024), Blue Demon Holiday Classic (Dec. 17, 2024) and Wisconsin Midwest Invite (Jan. 21, 2025).
The DePaul record holder in the triple jump, Hopf owns both the indoor and outdoor program marks. She set the indoor record with a 13.03m leap at the 2025 Blue Demon Alumni Classic and later recorded the outdoor school record of 13.26m (+2.3w) at the NCAA Division I West First Round in May 2025, alongside a wind-legal 12.81m performance at the Gary Wieneke Memorial. She has also elevated her long jump profile this season, highlighted by a 6.07m mark at the Meyo Invitational, one of the top conference performances of the winter.
