
DePaul Track and Field Completes Final Day of Blue Demon Alumni Classic

The Blue Demons took home 13 gold medals and seven new personal bests
CHICAGO – DePaul track and field completed its final day of the Blue Demon Alumni Classic Saturday afternoon. The Blue Demons took home 13 gold medals and seven new personal bests.
Darius Brown earned DePaul's first gold of the evening after dominating the men's 60m hurdle finals with a final time of 7.73. This win marks Brown's third consecutive first place finish in the event. Paul Goins followed close behind, coming in second with a new personal best time of 8.06.
The men's team also nabbed the top two spots in the 60m dash with Cameron Attucks placing first and Domic Cole second. Attucks ran a 6.86 final time and Cole ran a final time of 6.95.
The 400m women ran impressive races, taking the top-three slots. Freshman Claire Dunn led the squad, taking first with a new personal best time of 56.68. Kayliah Motes followed suit, posting a new personal record with a 56.81 time and a second place finish. Nadja Moll rounded out the event, nabbing third place with a final time of 57.37.
In the men's 400m, Jarel Terry claimed first with a final time of 48.58. Freshman Daniel Fasasi took third place, earning a new personal best with a final time of 48.74.
The distance runners had a very successful evening. Damian Rodriguez placed first in the men's 800m with a final time of 1:51.62. In the 1 mile, Meghan Dieball took first, winning the event with a 4:51.07 time.
On the men's side, Micheal Ronzone also claimed gold in the mile, running a final time of 4:12.68. In the women's 3000m Nina Amicon earned first place with a new personal best time of 9:27.11.
On the field, Jaiah Hopf gave an incredible comeback performance, placing first in the women's triple jump with a final mark of 11.88. Jordyn Showers and Eveline placed second and third respectively.
In the women's shot put, Kash Allen hit a new personal best mark with a 15.28m throw. Jessica Beckman also posted a new personal best with a third place finish and a final mark of 13.35m.
To round out the competition both men's and women's 4x400m relays dominated their events. On the women's team, Motes, Sonja Nagle, Nadja Moll and Dunn took first with a final time of 3:50.69. On the men's side, Brown, Charles Lewis, Fasai and Terry took gold with a final time of 3:15.89.
UP NEXT: The Blue Demons head up to South Bend, Ind. for the Meyo Invitational hosted by Notre Dame on Feb. 2 and 3.
