Blue Demons Face Butler on Wednesday

Noting the Blue Demons
DePaul (10-12, 2-7 BIG EAST) looks to close out the month of January strong after dropping its last three games, including a 95-64 setback to Villanova on Sunday afternoon. Katlyn Gilbert led the Blue Demons in scoring with 12 points on the afternoon while Anaya Peoples added 10 of her own for her 20th game in double figures this season.
GIlbert has increased her scoring average by nearly four points since conference play has started all while being charged with guarding the opposing team's best offensive player. The graduate guard is top-10 in the nation in steals with 62 on the season while Peoples has 52. Peoples is leading the Blue Demons in scoring with 17.7 points per game and coming off a week where she averaged 23.5 points and 10.5 rebounds in a pair of losses. She also leads DePaul in assists and blocks.
The Blue Demons lead the BIG EAST in steals (10.6) and rebounds (39.8) while ranking third in scoring offense (73.8) and assists per game (17.9). DePaul is 9-1 this season when dishing out 20 or more assists. DePaul has a trio of players with Indiana connections as Katlyn Gilbert (Indianapolis), Jorie Allen (Bedford) and Kate Clarke (Carmel) all hail from the Hoosier State.
Scouting ButlerThe Bulldogs are 9-11 on the season and 1-8 in BIG EAST play and are coming off an 11 point loss on the road at Marquette. Caroline Strande has led Butler this season, ranking 12th in the league in scoring with 15 points per game and sixth in rebounding with 7.5 boards a contest. As a team, the Bulldogs are lighting it up from downtown, ranking second in the conference in made three-pointers (8.3 per game) and third in three-point field goal percentage (38.3). Austin Parkinson is in his second season leading the Butler program and holds a 20-30 record.
Series Stuff
The Blue Demons have dominated the all-time series, 24-1, and have won four in a row. The last time DePaul visited Hinkle Fieldhouse it squeezed out a six-point win, the closest margin in a Blue Demon victory since 2016. The Blue Demons have never lost in a game played in Indianapolis.
