Talented point guard inks with Blue Demons
CHICAGO – Kruz McClure, a highly touted point guard prospect, officially signed with DePaul Men's Basketball on Friday. A 6-6 point guard, McClure is currently playing his senior season for DME Academy at St. John's Northwestern Academies in Delafield, Wis.
McClure joins Isaiah Medina in DePaul's 2025 signing class with both players as consensus top-150 prospects.
"Kruz is a young man we were focused on very early on in our time here because of our strong belief in the player that he can grow into in the BIG EAST here at DePaul," said head coach Chris Holtmann. "He is a big point guard with outstanding vision and passing ability, while also having the ability to score the ball. He has great versatility as a player with his ability to guard multiple positions with his size and defensive instincts. Just like Isaiah, Kruz is a terrific young man and we are really excited about his future as a DePaul Blue Demon."
McClure played at Westerville South High School, which was also home of Andre Wesson and Kaleb Wesson who both played for Holtmann at Ohio State. The Wesson brothers helped lead Ohio State to three NCAA tournament bids under Holtmann.
As a junior at Westerville, McClure averaged 23.9 points, 4.4 rebounds, 3.0- assists and 2.7 steals per game, earning OCC Capital Player of the Year and All-Central District Player of the Yer honors. He was also a finalist for Mr. Ohio as a junior.
He played this summer for MR22 Elite on the 3SSB AAU circuit, where he was his teams leading scorer, averaging 14.1 points, 3.9 rebounds, 2.9 assists and 1.5 steals per game. He participated in the NCAA Academy in Rock Hill, South Carolina in July where he averaged 12.2 points, 3.8 rebounds, 2.4 assists and 2.4 steals per game.
