Saeger adds 11th career double-double in victory
Storrs, Conn. – DePaul volleyball defeated the Connecticut Huskies 3-0 (25-22, 25-23, 27-25) Friday evening, handing the Huskies their first loss at home this season. DePaul improves to 18-9 overall, and 10-5 in BIG EAST play, while the Huskies drop to 21-6, and 9-6 in the league.
Pressly led the Blue Demon attack, adding her 26th of 27 matches this season in double-figures, posting 14 kills. Freshman Luisa Juncu registered nine kills of her own.
Defensively, DePaul was paced by setter Amanda Saeger with 11 digs and 18 assists, her 11th career double-double, while fellow setter Ashley Cudiamat poured in 17 assists on the night.
At the net, middle blockers Aly Kindelberger, Katelynn Oxley, and Meghan Scholz each tallied three blocks.
"That was the first home loss for UConn this season," said head coach Marie Zidek.
"We were down 20-23 in the third set, and came back to win it 27-25. There was adversity all over the place and this team found another gear in their serve and defense game, which created the opportunities we needed to end their comeback. This match was an incredible team effort tonight, and we played at our best when our best was required. This match was the definition of blue grit."
Connecticut was led by junior Hanna Tylska, who notched 13 kills for the Huskies.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
SET ONE

Kills from Pressly and Scholz put DePaul up by four heading into the media timeout, and they continued to extend their advantage with two more kills from Juncu. The Blue Demons closed the set victory with another Juncu kill, 25-22.
SET TWO
Four service errors from UConn kept the second set even early, with neither squad pulling away until UConn went on a 4-0 scoring run, leading by three mid-set. DePaul clawed their way back to take a 19-18 lead, earning the set, 25-23, after three consecutive errors from the Huskies.
SET THREE
DePaul jumped out to an 8-5 lead after two kills from Klemp and one from Oxley. Three more Pressly kills pushed the margin to as many as six, but UConn knotted the set at 19 points apiece.
