Fourth-seeded Blue Demons seek second consecutive tournament semifinal
OMAHA, Neb. - No. 4 seed DePaul faces its first test of the BIG EAST volleyball tournament on Wednesday, November 27. The Blue Demons will square off against fifth-seeded St. John's for the third time this season, with first serve set for 2:30 p.m. CT at DJ Sokol Arena. The match can be streamed on FloCollege here.
"This match is going to come down to us needing to serve well enough to disrupt their first ball swing opportunities and how many times we can execute in transition," said head coach Marie Zidek.
"On a neutral court it will be about how many arms can get on the ball for transition attack. We can also help our case with a strong day of serve reception to keep our middles involved. We're excited to get this one going."

BLUE DEMON BITS
- DePaul seeks to advance to the BIG EAST tournament semifinals for the second consecutive year, after defeating the Xavier Musketeers 3-1 in 2023
- The Blue Demons have qualified for the conference tournament three times in the past four years, also their first three qualifications since joining the league
- DePaul is undefeated in neutral site matches on the year, earning four wins as part of their non-conference slate
- The Blue Demons tally the most all-conference selections in program history, with Aly Kindelberger, Audrey Klemp, Jill Pressly, and Rachel Krasowski being named to the All-BIG EAST team
- Krasowski also earned the 2024 BIG EAST Libero of the Year honor, the first time ever a Blue Demon has received the accolade, and first major award for DePaul volleyball since Kara Jakusz won Conference USA Setter of the Year in 2000
- The Blue Demons are 8-4 in matches that begin before 5 p.m. CT, including a 3-1 win in their only other Wednesday match against Xavier on September 25
- The Blue Demons seek to reach 20 wins in a season for the first time since 2001, also the last appearance in the NCAA tournament for DePaul volleyball
SCOUTING THE RED STORM
- Erin Jones earned her second unanimous All-BIG EAST selection, after a season that included nine triple-doubles and 434 kills for the junior right-side hitter
- In their final weekend of regular season play, St. John's fell to UConn in three sets before taking a four-set victory against Providence
- In their last conference tournament campaign, the Red Storm defeated Villanova and Marquette, before falling to No. 1 seed Creighton in the championship match
- The 2024 postseason marks three straight for the Red Storm, and their sixth conference tournament bid in the past seven years
SERIES STUFF
- The two sides split the series in the regular season, with DePaul earning the match in straight sets on October 6 at home, and the Red Storm taking a four-set win on November 8 at Carnesecca Arena
- The all-time series sits at 23-8 in favor of St. John's, and the 2024 Blue Demon win marked their first in the tally since November 5, 2021
