CHICAGO – A 17-0 run in the first quarter propelled DePaul to a 66-42 win over Southern Illinois University Edwardsville (SIUE) on Sunday afternoon at Wintrust Arena. The Blue Demons, playing at home for the first time in two weeks, broke a four-game skid behind a stout defensive effort in which the Cougars scored the fewest points in a game by a DePaul opponent since 2019.
On the offensive end of the floor, graduate forward Jorie Allen led DePaul with 21 points on 57-percent shooting from the floor to go with nine rebounds. Allen finished with 20 or more points for the fourth time this season and has reached double figures in all eight of DePaul's games.
Junior forward Meg Newman finished with 10 points and eight rebounds while Haley Walker provided a spark off the bench with seven points and seven rebounds.
As a team, the Blue Demons dished out a season-high 22 assists on 26 made field goals which is good for an 85-percent assist rate. All 12 active players who saw time on the court handed out at least one helper while Sumer Lee posted a career-best and team-high four.
DePaul (3-5) forced 20 or more turnovers for the fourth time in eight games this season, turning in 18 points on 21 Cougar miscues.
Molly Sheehan led SIUE with 11 points.
