Allen eclipses 1,000 career points in the setback
CHICAGO – A 19-1 UNLV run in the second quarter proved to be too much to overcome for DePaul in an 80-61 setback at Wintrust Arena Sunday afternoon.
Despite the slow start, the Blue Demons clawed back, cutting the deficit to 11 points at the beginning of the fourth quarter but wouldn't get any closer, eventually falling to the three-time defending Mountain West Champions.
Jorie Allen led the Blue Demons with 21 points, her fifth 20-point outing of the season, while eclipsing 1,000 points in her collegiate career on a driving layup with 7:20 left in the third quarter. Allen continued her hot stretch to start the season, scoring 13 or more points in all 12 of DePaul's games.
Junior guard Taylor Johnson Matthews finished in double figures for the ninth time this season with 13 points on 50-percent shooting and five rebounds.
Meg Newman led the Blue Demons in rebounding for the seventh time on the 2024-25 campaign with 10 boards. It was the fifth double-digit rebounding performance of her career.
Aaliyah Alexander had a game-high 25 points on 8-for-10 shooting to lead UNLV.
