
Blue Demons Face Trio of Opponents in West Point

DePaul takes first visit outside of Midwest this season
WEST POINT, N.Y. – DePaul men's tennis travels to West Point, N.Y. for a weekend trifecta featuring Furman, Boston College, and Army, Feb. 2-4. Coach Brothers and DePaul (1-2) faces off against Boston College (1-1) for the first time in program history.
First serve against Furman (3-3) has been changed from its originally scheduled time, and will now be at 10:00 a.m. CT on Friday, Feb. 2 from the Lichtenberg Tennis Center. Additionally, action on Saturday begins at 1:00 p.m. CT and on Sunday at 8:00 a.m. CT, against Boston College and Army (2-1), respectively.
In its last match, DePaul fell to BIG EAST foe Creighton, in a tight 4-3 decision on Jan. 27. Matteo Iaquinto and Pablo Torres Almeida secured their team-high second singles victory of the season. In doubles, Shourya Verma and Jona Gitschel remain undefeated going into the weekend.
Furman and Army each enter the weekend coming off convincing 4-0 wins last week. Boston College comes in after dropping its match 5-2 against Brown on Saturday.
The Blue Demons last graced the court with Furman in 2011, when DePaul was ranked No. 66 in the nation. The 'Boys in Blue' dominated the Paladins, winning 5-2.
DePaul is 2-0 in its last two meetings against Army, with wins in back-to-back years in 2022 and 2023. Senior Shourya Verma clinched the victory in their match last year at home, winning a crucial third set.
