Men’s Tennis Drops Match Against Louisiana

DePaul goes 1-1 in HEB Tournament of Champions
CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS. – DePaul men's tennis fell in a highly-contested battle on Saturday afternoon, dropping a 4-2 decision to UL-Lafayette at the H-E-B Tennis Center.
Entering Saturday, both the Blue Demons (4-4) and Ragin' Cajuns (5-6) were in search of their third-straight victory.
DePaul dropped the No. 2 doubles match before Leon Huck and Sven Moser bounced back with a victory from the No. 3 spot, taking down Fillat Gimenez/Kyjaci, 6-3. Shourya Verma and Jona Gitschel were halted in search of their fourth straight victory on the No. 1 court, falling 6-3, to give Louisiana its first point of the day.
The Blue Demons surged ahead early in singles, as Matteo Iaquinto and Huck delivered stellar performances, clinching two victories to propel DePaul into the lead. Louisiana would follow suit, claiming three straight victories at No. 3, No. 6, and No. 4 to take the match.

The Blue Demons return to action with a set of home matches Feb. 24-25, featuring Western Michigan and Navy at XS Tennis Village. First serve will be at 3:15 p.m. CT on Saturday, and 1:30 p.m. CT on Sunday, respectively.
