CHICAGO – DePaul men's tennis returns to action this weekend as it hosts Western Michigan (WMU) and Navy at home for a pair of matches, Feb. 24-25. For the first time this season, the Blue Demons will head to the Washington Park neighborhood to hold matches at XS Tennis Village. First serve Saturday will be at 3:15 p.m. CT and 1:30 p.m. CT on Sunday.
DePaul most recently split a two-match series at the HEB Tournament of Champions in Corpus Christi, Texas, dropping a 2-4 decision to Louisiana and taking down UT Arlington 4-3.
Three Blue Demons were recognized as BIG EAST Players of the Week including Matteo Iaquinto, Leon Huck, and Sven Moser. Both Iaquinto and Huck/Moser went undefeated in their respective singles and doubles matches, Feb. 17-18.
WMU (6-3), a familiar opponent for DePaul, was featured alongside the Blue Demons in three separate tournaments during the fall season, with DePaul totaling eight head-to-head wins against Bronco opponents. Additionally, the Blue Demons face off against Navy (12-2) for the first time in program history.
Navy and WMU each enter their stay in Chicago on the heels of four straight wins. The Midshipmen most recently dominated BIG EAST foe, Villanova, 5-2, while the Broncos bested Dayton by a score of 5-2.
Prior to Sunday's feature against Navy, DePaul will honor late Hall of Fame coach George Lott. In recognizing him, DePaul will name a court at its home facility for Lott. The dedication will take place at XS Tennis, on Feb. 25 at 12:00 p.m. CST.
