Carter Jr. Scores 23 On Senior Night

CHICAGO – Chico Carter Jr. registered 23 points Tuesday evening on senior night as DePaul men's basketball fell, 104-77, to St. John's at Wintrust Arena. Carter Jr. shot a career high 6-of-8 from three-point range in addition to tallying six assists and five rebounds.
As a team, DePaul (3-27, 0-19 BIG EAST) shot 50.9 percent marking its highest this season in a conference game.
HOW IT HAPPENED
It was a hot offensive start for both teams as DePaul's first three baskets came on three-pointers, including two by Carter Jr. as St. John's (18-12, 10-9 BIG EAST) held a 10-9 lead. Carter Jr. continued to come up clutch for the Blue Demons, hitting a floater in the lane that kept it a single-possession game, 17-15. Both teams shot above 58 percent through the opening 15 minutes of the half before St. John's defensive pressure held DePaul scoreless for a stretch. The Red Storm ended the first half on a 21-2 run for a 54-28 lead DePaul couldn't overcome.
