Blue Demons fall on Friday afternoon 7-0
SAN LUIS OBISPO, CALIF. – DePaul men's tennis dropped its match Friday afternoon against Cal Poly at the Mustang Tennis Complex, 7-0.
Due to unforeseen circumstances, DePaul was unable to field a doubles team at the No. 3 position and a singles player at the No. 6 spot. The Blue Demons entered the match with automatic forfeits at these two positions.
Cal Poly (3-4) eventually went on to grab the first point of the day with a win on the No. 1 doubles court. Leon Huck and Sven Moser fell to Smith/Weststrate in a tough battle, 3-6.
With singles wins at No. 5 and No. 1, Cal Poly clinched the victory.
Matteo Iaquinto was the only Blue Demon to secure a first-set victory in singles but would fall in a highly contested third-set tiebreaker, making the tally, 5-7, 6-3, 12-10.
DePaul eventually dropped the remaining three courts to make the final score 7-0 in favor of the Mustangs.
