The Blue Demon qualifies for the championship finals
CHICAGO – DePaul track and field's Darius Brown survived and advanced to the championship finals for the men's 60m hurdles at the 2024 NCAA Track & Field Indoor Championships, Friday afternoon. The Blue Demon qualified after tying his school record time of 7.63 in the semifinals.
"Our staff, team and DePaul community couldn't be more proud of Darius," said assistant coach Stephanie Williams. "Not only has he made it to the finals of the Men's 60 meter hurdles, he made it in an event that is one of the deepest events in the country; in one of the toughest meets in the world to make. It has been an absolute honor being his sprint hurdles coach so far. He does the right things, trusts his coaches and has the right mindset. Most importantly he believes in himself. That is what is going to allow him to continue on his path to success."
The Louisville, Ky. native became the first Blue Demon to qualify for the Indoor Track and Field championship finals since 2015. Brown is set to compete in the finals tomorrow at 3:40pm CT. Fans can watch all the action on ESPN+ and keep up with live results here.
"The job is not done! He must execute tomorrow. It's about who shows up on the final day. Anything can happen when it comes to the hurdles! When you show up, it's time to show out."
