Meyer ranked top-5 nationally among true freshman in scoring
CHICAGO – DePaul men's basketball officially announced the addition of transfer, Jacob Meyer, to the Blue Demons roster, Thursday morning. Meyer comes to DePaul following his true freshman season at Coastal Carolina where he ranked fifth nationwide in points per game among true freshman with 15.7 points per game.
"Jacob is a talented scorer who had an outstanding prep career in Kentucky and a very good freshman year at Coastal Carolina," said head coach Chris Holtmann. "He's confident and aggressive and has the ability to play on and off the ball. He understands the challenges that come with the BIG EAST and is looking forward to getting to work and growing his game to help DePaul. We are excited about the addition of Jacob to our team."
As a true freshman, Meyer was the only Chanticleer to start all 31 games in the 2023-24 season.
In addition to being his teams' leading scorer, Meyer also led Coastal Carolina with 78 assists and was third on the roster with 5.1 rebounds per game. Meyer shot 44.9 percent overall on the season, including over 40 percent from three-point range.
Meyer scored in double-digits in 28 of his 31 games played, including six 20+ point performances. He scored a career-high 31 points in the Sun Belt Tournament against Louisiana-Monroe while also tallying six rebounds and five assists.
A native of Covington, Ky., Meyer finished his high school career as one of the top all-time leading scorers in Kentucky high school basketball history with 3,280 points. He led the state of Kentucky in scoring in both his junior and senior seasons with 38.2 and 36.8 points per game, respectively. His senior season he was named Region Co-Player of the Year.
