Rivera stays in the Windy City, following the '23-24 season at UIC
CHICAGO – DePaul men's basketball continues to build its roster for the 2024-25 season, as head coach Chris Holtmann announced the addition of Isaiah Rivera, Monday afternoon. Rivera comes to DePaul following a season at UIC and has one final season remaining of eligibility.
"Isaiah is a gifted scorer who really possesses a good feel for the game" said Holtmann. "He has shown the ability to shoot the ball off the catch and bounce. In talking with him he expressed a real desire to continue to grow as a player on both ends of the court. He can play either wing position and has been really well coached during his collegiate career. We are excited about his impact and continued growth as a player here at DePaul."
A Geneseo, Ill. Native, Rivera started all 32 games last season for the Flames as the team's leading scorer with 14.7 points per game. He also averaged 4.2 rebounds and 1.0 steals per game while shooting 49.8 percent from three.
Prior to returning to his home state, Rivera played three seasons at Colorado State. In his final season with the Rams, Rivera started 31 of his 33 games played in where he averaged 8.6 points, 3.7 rebounds and 1.0 steals per game.
Throughout his career, Rivera has totaled 971 career rebounds as a 40.7 percent career three-point shooter. Additionally, he has averaged 7.8 points, 2.8 rebounds, 1.3 assists and 0.7 steals per game.
Rivera played at Geneso HS where he became the first player in school history to surpass 2,000 career points. He was a three-time Quad City Times Illinois Player of the Year and was named Illinois Basketball Coaches Association First Team Class 3A All-State as a senior. Rivera was the No. 4 ranked player in the state from 247Sports.com coming out of high school.
Rivera joins three other Blue Demons, announced last week, as members of the 2024-25 roster.
