Blue Demons face second top-25 opponent of season
CHICAGO – DePaul men's basketball is set to host its second top-25 opponent of the season, Tuesday evening, as they welcome #7 Marquette into town. The game is slated for a 6 p.m. CT tip on CBS Sports Network from Wintrust Arena with Chris Lewis and Steve Lappas on the call. Zach Zaidman and Dave Corzine will have the Blue Demon radio broadcast available on Sirius XM and DePaul Blue Demons app.
LAST TIME OUT
CJ Gunn led DePaul (9-8, 0-6 BIG EAST) with a career-best performance Saturday against Xavier, despite the Blue Demons dropping the contest, 77-63. Gunn had a team-best 16 points while nabbing a personal-high of seven rebounds while recording this second-straight game with 15 or more points. He was joined in double-digits by Jacob Meyer and NJ Benson with 14 and 13 points, respectively. Meyer has recorded 10 or more points in 16 of his 17 games played this season.
Benson has started the last five games for DePaul, where he has averaged 12.2 points, 9.6 rebounds, 1.8 blocks, 1.2 assists and 0.8 steals per game in that span.

Marquette leads the all-time series, 84-50, in a series that dates back to 1918. The Blue Demons are 34-34 at home against the Golden Eagles with Marquette winning six of the last seven.

Marquette (14-2, 5-0 BIG EAST) is coming off its most recent victory a week ago where they defeated Georgetown at home, 74-66, leading the program to its second 5-0 start in league play since 2005-06. The Golden Eagles have won five-straight with both loses coming on the road to a top-five Iowa State team and Dayton. Kam Jones is the team's leader, averaging 19.7 points per game and 6.4 assists. Jones is second in the league in scoring and first in assist-to-turnover ratio, averaging 4.12.
As a team, Marquette ranks 24th nationally with a 1.62 assist-to-turnover ratio as they commit the second fewest turnovers per game nationwide at an average of nine per game. The Golden Eagles defense is relentless, ranking fourth in steals per game with two players in the top-35 nationally in Stevie Mitchell and Chase Ross.
