DePaul faces second-straight road contest
HARTFORD, CONN. – DePaul men's basketball faces its second-straight road contest as they travel to Hartford, Conn. to face off against No. 25 UConn, Wednesday, Jan. 29. The game is slated for a 7 p.m. CT tip on Peacock with John Fanta and Jordan Cornette on the call. Zach Zaidman and Dave Corzine will have DePaul's radio broadcast on Sirius XM and DePaul Blue Demons App.
LAST TIME OUT
NJ Benson led DePaul in the Blue Demons last outing Saturday against Butler in an 86-67 loss. Benson had 20 points and nine rebounds, however, the Bulldogs had a second half run to secure the win. CJ Gunn and Conor Enright joined Benson in double-digit scoring with 16 and 12, respectively.
In the game, DePaul had a season-low six turnovers marking its fewest in a BIG EAST game since March 2022. The game also featured DePaul's seventh different starting lineup of the season, this time going with Enright, Gunn, Benson, Layden Blocker and Troy D'Amico.
THE SERIES
UConn leads the all-time series 20-1, with DePaul's lone victory coming on Jan. 31, 2007. The Huskies are 8-0 in the all-time series at home.
LAST MEETING
Earlier this season, UConn defeated DePaul on New Year's Day in Wintrust Arena, 81-68. The Blue Demons were led by NJ Benson with a double-double in addition to 18 points from Enright. After UConn took an early first half lead, DePaul came back within single-digits on multiple occasions in the second half before the Huskies would ultimately hold them off.
SCOUTING UCONN
UConn (14-6, 6-3 BIG EAST) has lost three of their last five games after winning eight-straight contests. The Huskies dropped their most recent road matchup to Xavier on Saturday, 76-72, despite Solo Ball's first career double-double with 20 points and 11 rebounds. Ball is the team's second leading scorer with 14.5 points behind Alex Karaban's 15.4. Karaban also contributes 5.1 rebounds per game and is shooting 40 percent from three-point range.
UConn is 9-1 this season at home and 86-16 in seven seasons under Danny Hurley.
