DePaul Drops Heartbreaker in Overtime

Gunn leads Blue Demons with 21 points
NEWARK, N.J. – DePaul men's basketball dropped a heartbreaker on the road Wednesday evening as they fell 85-80 in overtime to Seton Hall. CJ Gunn lead DePaul with 21 points which included five made three-pointers and four rebounds. Troy D'Amico contributed a season-high 18 points while matching a personal best four made three-pointers.
As a team, DePaul (9-7, 0-5 BIG EAST) tallied 13 three-pointers, tying for the third best in program history in a BIG EAST contest.
HOW IT HAPPENED
It was a tale of two halves, as DePaul controlled the game early with an 18-7 lead. Seton Hall inched closer on a stretch of eight of nine made field goals which made it a two-point game, 24-22. The Blue Demons defense locked down, holding Seton Hall without a field goal for seven minutes while DePaul's offense put together a 12-3 run to end the half.
Seton Hall (6-9, 1-3 BIG EAST) came out of halftime controlling the game as they opened the period shooting 5-of-7. A 19-2 Seton Hall scoring run slashed the lead to one, 50-49, before David Thomas hit a layup. A pair of threes from D'Amico and Gunn kept DePaul ahead 58-49. With four minutes left to play in the half, Seton Hall forced a DePaul turnover and answered with a three-pointer cutting it to a four-point game. The Pirates Isaiah Coleman hit a three-pointer to tie the game at the end of regulation. His momentum continued into the overtime period as he scored seven points to help Seton Hall come out ahead.
