DePaul to Compete in ITA Midwest Regionals

Six Blue Demons are set to travel to Champaign, Illinois
CHICAGO – DePaul women's tennis heads to in-state foe, Illinois, for the ITA Midwest Regionals at the Atkins Tennis Center. The tournament takes place from October 16-21, and six Blue Demons are competing in the event.
First serve each day of the tournament will begin at 9 a.m. CT. Singles qualifying action for the round of 64 kicks off on Thursday, Oct. 16. Yasemin Pehlivan faces Marquette's Aiyana Abbott at 9 a.m. CT. Pehlivan has found singles success early in her collegiate career, posting a 4-2 record coming into play.
Fellow freshman Clara Nilsson squares off against Jenna Horne (NIU) during the same time slot.
Junior Sasha Stula matches up with Marta Halbersztadt (UIC) at 10:30 a.m. CT. First serve between Roberta Sechi and Valparaiso's Lacey Tanner is set for 10:30 a.m. CT as well.
Helin Alvarez closes out the round of 64 qualifying play for the Blue Demons when she goes up against Konstantina Adamopoulou of Bowling Green at noon CT. The singles qualifying round of 32 will begin after the round of 64 is complete.
Senior Hannah Smith automatically qualified for the round of 64 singles main draw beginning on Friday, Oct. 17. The Blue Demon veteran holds a 5-1 record in fall tournament competition this season.
Doubles play will follow singles starting Oct. 17. Head coach Marisa Arce will continue to deploy the same doubles pairings from the previous two weekends of the fall slate. Alvarez and Stula will be partnered up along with Nilsson and Smith. The third doubles duo for DePaul is Sechi and Pehlivan. Doubles matchups have not been announced yet.
The two participants in the main draw singles will qualify for the NCAA Singles Championship, while the main draw doubles champion will qualify for the NCAA Doubles Championship at the USTA National Campus from Nov. 18-23 in Orlando, Florida. The NCAA Singles Championship will feature 26 participants, and the NCAA Doubles Championship will feature 13 pairings.
