Chery Earns First Career Top-10 Finish, Team Comes in 7th

KETTERING, OHIO – Following an outstanding first day at the Dayton Flyer Invitational, DePaul golf freshman North Chery rounded out the event with a 76 (+5) Tuesday to earn his first career top-10 finish. Chery ended the event with a 213 (E), also marking the best individual round of 54 for any DePaul golfer this season.
"Today our team fought hard and showcased the preparation and determination we've been building towards," said head coach Ryan Jamison. "It's clear that we've created some positive momentum heading into the offseason and I'm excited about the future this group is shaping. This semester, we pushed ourselves by raising the bar and our players did an outstanding job in strengthening our culture. But the work doesn't stop here. We must continue to grow, stay focused on the present and take a step back to refocus for the challenges ahead. The offseason is our time to recharge and attack with renewed energy."
Chery's finish helped boost DePaul to a seventh-place overall finish with an 880 (+28), including Tuesday's 293 (+9). Sam Mortell secured his second-straight round of 73 (+2) to finish T27th overall at 222 (+9) with teammate Billy Gneiser. Gneiser also secured a 73 (+2) on Tuesday in the team's final tournament of fall competition.
Dominic Lucchesi had a team-best final round Tuesday afternoon with a 72 (+1), rebounding after a tough first round to finish T46th overall. Rohan Gopaldas rounded out the Blue Demons team competitors with a 75 (+4), finishing the event at 229 (+16).
Austin Scott, competing as an individual, rounded out Tuesday with a 73 (+2) for an overall finish in 51st at 228 (+15).
