Golf Finishes Strong at Wexford Intercollegiate, Chery Earns Top 5 Finish

HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C. – DePaul golf freshman North Chery earned his first career top-5 finish Tuesday, helping the Blue Demons to an eighth-place team finish in the 15-team Wexford Intercollegiate. DePaul finished a combined two-over par through its final two rounds.
Chery rounded out a career best 211 (-5) to finish in fifth place behind a round of 70 (-2) Tuesday morning. It marks Chery's best career round of 54 and ties for the fifth best finish under par by a DePaul golfer since 2000.
Dominic Lucchesi finished strong after a challenging first day with a 73 (+1) for an overall 227 (+11), coming in 48th. Sam Mortell had a strong final round with a 73 (+1), ending the event with a 231 (+15) in a tie for 63rd. Rohan Gopaldas and Austin Scott rounded out DePaul's lineup with overall scores of 229 (+13) and 235 (+19).
DePaul turns around quickly to compete again Feb. 23-24 in San Antonio, Texas at the Military City Collegiate, hosted by UTSA.
