DePaul Athletics Announces 2025 Hall of Fame Class

Class features eight All-American honors and 15 All-Conference accolades
CHICAGO – DePaul Athletics has announced its 2025 Hall of Fame Class, a distinguished group that collectively boasts eight All-American honors and more than 15 All-Conference accolades.
This year's inductees includes Matt Babicz (Track & Field), Liza Brown VandenLangenberg (Softball), Wilson Chandler (Men's Basketball), Marge Mazik (Dr. Robert Hamilton Special Service Award), Saskia Roberson (Softball) and Lenae Williams Fergerson (Women's Basketball).
The group will be recognized during the Hall of Fame weekend, Feb. 20-22, and formally inducted at a dinner at the Marriott Marquis Chicago on Friday, Feb. 20. Tables are now on sale for the event here.
"This Hall of Fame Class truly exemplifies the best of DePaul Athletics," said Vice President & Director of Athletics DeWayne Peevy. "From All-Americans to professional athletes, these individuals achieved remarkable success both in competition and beyond. Matt, Liza, Wilson, Saskia, Lenae and Marge each left a lasting legacy of what it means to be part of the Blue Demon family, and we're thrilled to welcome them into the Hall of Fame."
The DePaul Athletics Hall of Fame was founded in 1976 by the DePaul University Department of Athletics, was re-introduced in 2023 with amended selection criteria. The Hall of Fame exists to recognize and honor those individuals who have made exceptional contributions to the achievements and distinction of DePaul University in athletics, and who have continued to demonstrate in their lives the values learned by their participation in intercollegiate athletics. Matt Babicz (Track & Field)
A two-time All-American and five-time BIG EAST Champion, Matt Babicz competed for DePaul from 2010-15 and remains one of the most decorated throwers in program history. Babicz earned All-America honors in shot put at the 2014 Indoor NCAA Championships, and again in 2015 with a seventh-place finish to earn first team status.
A six-time NCAA Championship qualifier, Babicz helped DePaul to a silver medal team finish at the 2014 BIG EAST Outdoor Championships. He won three consecutive indoor shot put titles and two outdoor crowns while adding runner-up finishes in shot put and discus. His 2015 indoor mark of 19.17m remains one of the best in conference history, and his 19.27m throw still stands as the BIG EAST Outdoor Championship record.
Liza Brown VandenLangenberg (Softball)
A two-time All-American and one of the most decorated players in softball history, Liza Brown earns her second DePaul Athletics Hall of Fame induction after also being inducted as a member of the 1999 Women's College World Series team.
Competing from 1997-99, Brown was a two-time Mid-Continent Conference Player of the Year, leading DePaul to three NCAA Tournament appearances and the 1999 Women's College World Series. She still ranks among DePaul's all-time leaders in slugging percentage, opponent batting average, strikeout rate and RBIs. In the circle, Brown posted a nation's best 0.42 ERA as a junior and closed her career third in the program's history at 1.28 to go with a 46-17 record. After her collegiate career, Brown played professionally for the Akron Racers in the Women's Professional Softball League before returning to DePaul as an assistant coach.
Wilson Chandler (Men's Basketball)
A first-round NBA Draft pick in 2007, Wilson Chandler made a lasting mark on DePaul men's basketball during his two seasons (2005-07). He averaged 12.9 points, 7.1 rebounds, 1.4 blocks and 1.4 assists, earning All-BIG EAST Rookie Team honors in 2006 and Second Team All-BIG EAST recognition in 2007. Both of his honors marked the first BIG EAST accolades in men's basketball program history.
Chandler recorded 11 career double-doubles at DePaul before embarking on a 16-year professional career, playing in 676 NBA games and totaling 8,463 points, 3,574 rebounds and 1,205 assists.
Saskia Roberson (Softball)
One of only three three-time All-Americans in DePaul softball history, Saskia Roberson starred for the Blue Demons from 2002-05, helping lead the program to the 2005 Women's College World Series.
Roberson hold's DePaul's all-time record with 51 career home runs and ranks fourth in program history with 236 career starts. A two-time NCAA Tournament All-Region selection, she also ranks among the top five in career RBIs, slugging percentage, putouts and single-season home runs.
Marge Mazik (Dr. Robert Hamilton Special Service Award)
Marge Mazik worked as a Development Assistant in DePaul's Athletics Department for nearly 20 years, playing a monumental role in building relationships with donors and season ticket holders. She played an important role in the revitalization of the D-Club and the Champions Club. She generously created two endowed scholarships to give back to DePaul Athletics and support student-athletes. In 2014, Mazik was awarded DePaul's Via Sapientiae Award, the highest honor the university can bestow upon a member of its community.
Mazik attended DePaul was a member of the Women's Athletics Association as a student. Her husband, Hank, is also a DePaul graduate ('68) and they have four children – Christine, Jim, Mary and Steve. Christine (DePaul '94) and Jim (DePaul '97) served as managers for the Blue Demons women's and men's basketball programs.
Lenae Williams Fergerson (Women's Basketball)
A prolific scorer and three-point shooter, Lenae Williams helped define DePaul women's basketball in the early 2000s. She remains the Conference USA and DePaul career record holder for three-pointers made with 303.
Williams appeared in 116 career games from 1998-2002, averaging 17.6 points, 3.4 rebounds and 1.7 assists. One of only four players in program history to surpass 2,000 career points, she finished her career with 2,046. She earned Associated Press All-America honorable mention honors as a senior before being selected 18th overall in the 2002 WNBA Draft by the Detroit Shock. She played one season in the WNBA before embarking on a 12-year professional career overseas.
