Marie Zidek Re-Elected to AVCA Board of Directors

Blue Demons head coach to serve second term
CHICAGO – The American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) announced the results of its 2025 Board of Directors election, announcing the DePaul volleyball head coach Marie Zidek had been elected to her second term as the Division I Women's Volleyball Representative. The appointment is a three-year term which will begin in January 2026.
Zidek was first appointed the Division 1 women's representative in the fall of 2022. The Division I Representative is responsible for leading the DI Head Coaches Committee and serving all Division I women's member coaches.
Zidek has been a staunch voice for the growth of volleyball throughout her career, that includes involvement in the USA Volleyball Development Program since 2011. Zidek most recently served as head coach for the USA Volleyball Under-23 Women's National Team who won gold at the 2025 NORCECA Pan American Cup in Mexico.
First named DePaul's head coach in 2017, Zidek has helped lift the Blue Demons volleyball program to new heights. A year ago in 2024, DePaul made its third appearance in the BIG EAST Tournament in the last four years and advanced to the semifinals. The Blue Demons had a program-best four All-BIG EAST honorees, in addition to the program's first BIG EAST Libero of the Year Award in Rachel Krasowski.
Under Zidek's guidance, DePaul volleyball has made two postseason appearances in the National Invitational Volleyball Competition (NIVC) while also having four AVCA All-Region honorees, 13 All-BIG EAST selections and two conference Freshman of the Year winners. Zidek is the program's third winningest coach with 105 wins.
