Blue Demons Downed by Villanova in League Action Monday Night

Novik leads DePaul with 10 points
CHICAGO – DePaul women's basketball fell 81-48 to Villanova Monday night at Wintrust Arena in its final game of the 2025 calendar year. The Blue Demons were stifled on the offensive end of the floor, shooting 26 percent from the field while being blanked from behind the arc.
Kate Novik led the Blue Demons in scoring for the seventh time this season, recording a team-best 14 points to go along with six rebounds and a pair of steals. Freshman guard Gina Davorija tallied a career-best 10 points on 50-percent shooting from the field in addition to a game-high three steals.
As a team, DePaul hit a season-high 16 free throws and shot 76-percent from the charity stripe.
Villanova (11-2, 4-0 BIG EAST) had four players finish in double figure scoring led by Brynn McCurry's 18 points.
How It Happened
Villanova started the game on a 7-0 run and forced an early DePaul timeout. West hit the Blue Demons' lone field goal of the first quarter as the Wildcats led 20-7 after 10 minutes of play.
Natiah Nelson and Novik scored on three-straight possessions to close the gap to 15, 28-13. An 8-0 Wildcat run ensued as the visitors pushed their lead to 42-19 at halftime.
The Blue Demons were held without a field goal for nearly 8 minutes in the third quarter as Villanova extended its advantage to 62-30 heading into the final period.
DePaul (3-12, 0-4 BIG EAST) kept the fourth-quarter margin tight at 19-18, with the final score being 81-48 in favor of the Wildcats.
