DePaul set to retire Dave Corzine jersey at halftime
CHICAGO – DePaul men's basketball is set to host the Butler Bulldogs, Saturday, Feb. 22 for a 7 p.m. evening contest from Wintrust Arena. Noah Reed and Shelvin Mack have the broadcast call on FS1. Zach Zaidman will be joined on the DePaul radio broadcast by Bobby Simmons on 670 The Score, while DePaul retires Dave Corzine's jersey at halftime.
LAST TIME OUT
DePaul (11-16, 2-14 BIG EAST) faced a tough challenge on Tuesday against #10 St. John's, ultimately falling 82-58. The Blue Demons were led by Isaiah Rivera with a team-high 16 points, while CJ Gunn recorded his first career double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds.
As a team, DePaul was perfect from the free throw line, going 12-for-12. It marks the second time since 2011, DePaul has been flawless at the charity stripe with 10 or more attempts.
THE SERIES
Butler leads the all-time series 21-7, while DePaul has four of those wins in the series at home. DePaul's last win against the Bulldogs was Jan. 18, 2020 in Wintrust Arena.
The two teams played earlier this season on Jan. 25, 2025 where Butler came away with a 86-69 victory. DePaul was led in the game by NJ Benson with a near double-double, tallying 20 points and nine rebounds. CJ Gunn also tallied 16 points while both teams shot over 50 percent from the floor.
SCOUTING BUTLER
The Bulldogs enter Saturday's contest following a loss on Tuesday on the road against Xavier. Butler (12-14, 5-10 BIG EAST) is just 1-7 in away games this season, its lone road win coming at Seton Hall.
Jahmyl Telfort is the team's leading scorer with 16.0 points per game, 4.7 rebounds per game and 3.4 assists. Pierre Brooks II also contributes 15.5 points and 4.9 rebounds per game. The Bulldogs are shooting 37.3 percent on the season from three-point range, with an average of eight made per game. Butler's team is along among the nation's best at limiting fouls, committing only an average of 14 per game, which is second in the BIG EAST and top-20 nationally.
