Blue Demons extend win streak to four matches
CHICAGO – No. 72 DePaul men's tennis continued its strong season on Friday, securing a 5-2 victory over Cleveland State at Medical Mutual Tennis Pavilion. The Blue Demons (8-5, 1-0 BIG EAST) extended their win streak to four, surrendering just four points across those victories.
The Vikings set sail early, but DePaul quickly steered the ship, overcoming an early doubles deficit after Cleveland State clinched the point with wins at No. 1 and No. 3, leaving Matteo Iaquinto and Marko Milosavljevic's match unfinished with a 5-4 lead.
Freshman Milosavljevic continued his singles streak, earning another straight-set victory at No. 3, 6-0, 6-4. Iaquinto followed with a similar 6-4, 6-1 result at No. 1, pushing DePaul ahead 2-1.
At No. 6, Quang Vinh Nguyen secured a decisive win to extend the Blue Demon lead before Pablo Torres Almeida clinched his second match in as many weekends, giving DePaul its fourth straight singles victory in straight sets. Andy Hadziabdic capped the 5-2 decision with a third-set battle, winning 3-6, 6-4, 6-3, as DePaul sank the Vikings to wrap up its first night in Cleveland.
