Tenth-seeded DePaul faces seventh-seeded Georgetown
NEW YORK – DePaul men's basketball enters the 2025 BIG EAST Tournament as the tenth-seeded team where they are set for a matchup against seventh-seeded Georgetown on Wednesday, March 12, 2025. The game is slated for a 5:30 p.m. CT tip on Peacock with Noah Eagle, Donny Marshall and John Fanta on the call. Zach Zaidman and Dave Corzine will have DePaul's radio broadcast on 670 The Score and SiriusXM.
The Blue Demons will face the Hoyas for the second-time in the last week after DePaul rounded out its regular-season Saturday, March 8 with an 83-77 win over Georgetown. It marked DePaul's second-straight conference win to end the regular-season, the first time the Blue Demons have entered the tournament with two-consecutive victories since 2006-07.
DEPAUL IN THE BIG EAST TOURNAMENT
DePaul is 5-16 overall in the BIG EAST Tournament, with wins in three of the last five. The Blue Demons are the 10-seed for the eighth time and will face Georgetown in the tournament for the first time since March 9, 2016.
This year's tournament marks the first for all 14 of DePaul's players, while it is Holtmann's return to the conference championship for the first time since 2017.
THE SERIES AGAINST GEORGETOWN
Georgetown leads the all-time series, 35-16, with DePaul winning both regular season meetings of the team this year. The series is an even 2-2 when played on a neutral site, with Georgetown winning the last tournament matchup between the programs in 2016.
SCOUTING DEPAUL
DePaul (13-18, 4-16 BIG EAST) has been boosted all season by its three-point shooting and ability to share the ball. The Blue Demons have already broke the school single-season record with 288 made three-pointers, besting the previous record of 272 from the 2021-22 team. The team is assisting on 60 percent of its baskets this season and is seven assists away from breaking into the top-10 in single-season assists.
SCOUTING GEORGETOWN
Georgetown (17-14, 8-12 BIG EAST) ranks fifth in the league in scoring defense allowing an average of 68.74 points per game and also are fifth in steals per game with 7.9. Micah Peavy is the Hoyas leader on many levels with 16.9 points per game and shooting 47.6 percent, earning a nod to the All-BIG EAST First Team.
