Every team posted above a 3.0 GPA for second-straight quarter
CHICAGO – Following a strong fall quarter performance in the classroom, DePaul student-athletes once again raised the bar as the department registered a record 3.593 grade-point average during the winter quarter. The 3.593 grade-point average marks the highest GPA for a single quarter, outside of COVID, in records dating back to 1999-00.
The winter quarter also marks the second-straight quarter where every DePaul program has been above a 3.0, in alignment with the DePaul Athletics 'Dream Big' Strategic Plan.
"Our student-athletes continue to demonstrate remarkable dedication in the classroom," said Vice President and Director of Athletics DeWayne Peevy. "Their academic achievements remain a point of pride for our entire department, and this quarter was no exception. Attaining our highest GPA to date, outside of the pandemic, is a testament to the collective commitment of our staff, coaches, and most importantly, our student-athletes. As we continue to strive to reach new heights of excellence in all areas from competition to the classroom, this milestone reflects the strength of that shared commitment."
Women's tennis led all teams with a 3.875 grade-point average as a total of 10 teams reached above a 3.5. Overall, 70 percent of DePaul student-athletes were named to DePaul University's Dean's List for earning a 3.5 grade point average or higher. A total of 58 student-athletes also recorded a perfect 4.0 for the quarter.
DePaul's strategic plan, initially introduced in 2021, includes five guiding principles including Academic Excellence. Academic Excellence is rooted in the goal of promoting holistic student-athlete development and developing the leaders of tomorrow by enabling student-athletes to achieve their education, professional and personal goals.
