CHICAGO – DePaul Associate Vice President and Deputy Athletics Director Taylor Stapleton has been elevated to overall chair of the NCAA Division I Men's and Women's Tennis Committee, the committee's top leadership position. Stapleton, who previously served as chair of the men's tennis committee, will now lead the full committee responsible for guiding sport-specific governance, championship administration and the continued growth of both men's and women's tennis.
Stapleton joined the national committee in September 2024. The committee is responsible for sport-specific governance and championship administration, with authority over playing rules, playing and practice seasons, recruiting and the administration of the NCAA Division I Men's and Women's Tennis Championships, including bracket selection and seeding.
"I'm incredibly grateful and honored to serve as chair of the NCAA Division I Men's and Women's Tennis Committee," said Stapleton. "College tennis is at a unique and important moment, and we have a tremendous opportunity to invest in the sport, grow it and ensure it continues to thrive. I'm committed to working alongside our coaches, the NCAA, the ITA, the USTA and leaders throughout the tennis community to support our student-athletes, strengthen the championship experience and help move college tennis forward."
Stapleton's appointment reflects his dedication to the sport and the leadership he has shown at DePaul, in the BIG EAST Conference and nationally. Since 2020, he has served as the sport administrator for DePaul's men's tennis program and assumed the same role for the women's program in 2022. His tenure has been marked by strategic growth and investment, including the launch of a groundbreaking partnership with Wilson and Luxilon in 2024, Wilson's first-ever collegiate tennis team sponsorship.
"Taylor's support and advocacy have meant so much to our women's tennis program," said head women's tennis coach Marisa Arce. "He truly understands the sport and has a genuine desire to be involved, listen and help move it forward. I'm thrilled to see him elevated to this expanded national leadership role. I know he will continue to make a meaningful impact on college tennis."
Under Stapleton's leadership, DePaul's tennis programs have achieved success both on and off the court, earning multiple BIG EAST titles, NCAA Tournament appearances and top academic honors across the conference.
Stapleton's appointment continues DePaul Athletics' strong presence in national governance and reflects the department's commitment to leadership, service and the advancement of the college athletics industry.
