Shot Put Sweep, Meet Record Power Blue Demons in Storrs

Kash Allen, Jaiden Gary claim gold; Darius Brown sets all-time mark in 110m hurdles
STORRS, Conn. – DePaul track and field continued its strong showing on day two of the 2025 BIG EAST Outdoor Championships with a pair of shot put titles, a new meet record in the hurdles, and numerous personal bests at the Sherman Family Sports Complex.
Kash Allen secured her third career BIG EAST title, and second outdoors, with a 15.90m mark in the women's shot put, hitting the NCAA East Region standard in the process. Jessica Beckman followed in fourth at 13.38m, and freshman Laila Richardson added a personal-best 12.79m for seventh. In the long jump, Jaiah Hopf earned runner-up honors with a leap of 5.96m.
Jaiden Gary collected his second BIG EAST crown of the year by taking the men's shot put with a season-best 18.17m. The freshman completed a sweep of the event, having also won the title indoors. Sergio Ayala added a fourth-place finish after recording a personal-best 14.66m.
In the sprints, Sade Miller ran 11.75 to lead the women's 100m prelims. Jetta Mays came through in 11.91, while Nevaeh Lowe recorded a personal-best 11.94 to join them in the final. Miller came back to post another PR in the 200m at 24.06. Mays followed in 24.08 for a season best, and Claire Dunn added a 24.25 SB. Maia Mays also notched a season-best 24.46. In the 400m, Nadja Moll ran a personal-best 54.87 to secure a lane in the final. Alyssa Leak claimed her heat in the 400m hurdles with a career-best 1:00.08. Sonja Nagle advanced in the 800m after running 2:10.93, and Isabella Orozco posted a 4:25.07 in the 1500m to move on. In distance finals, Tessa Roe took second in the 3000m steeplechase at 10:19.27, and Nina Amicon grabbed fourth in the 5000m behind a lifetime-best 16:08.81.
History was made in the 110m hurdles as Darius Brown broke both the BIG EAST Outdoor Championship and DePaul program records with a time of 13.40 to lead all qualifiers. Paul Goins followed with a 13.94 to advance, while Jorden Reddick and Harper Bryan also moved on with identical times of 15.10. Demetrius Rolle set the pace in the 100m at 10.36, joined by Dominic Cole at 10.69 and Amaru Mazibuko with a personal-best 10.80. Cole returned to win his 200m heat in 21.20 for a season best, while Rolle added a PR of 21.36. A season-best 47.97 from Daniel Fasasi secured his place in the 400m final. In the 1500m, Mohamed Abdullahi led with a personal-best 3:55.36, followed closely by Damian Rodriguez at 3:56.10. Capping off the day, Dustin Hudak clocked 1:51.02 in the 800m to secure a spot in the final with one of the top performances in the field.
