DePaul Renews Series with Chicago State Thursday

Two teams face off for first time since 1987
CHICAGO – DePaul men's soccer continues its six-match home stretch on Thursday, Aug. 28 when local opponent Chicago State visits Wish Field. Kickoff is set for 12:30 p.m. with live coverage found on ESPN+.

Demon Doings
The Blue Demons enter the second week of the regular season unbeaten and in search of their first win after a pair of draws to Purdue Fort Wayne and Oakland. The last time the Blue Demons were unbeaten through their first three matches came in 2022 after a 2-0-1 start.

DePaul has seen four different players find the back of the net in 2025 with Christian Baumgartner, Luca Iaccino, Noeh Hernandez and Keagan Pace all tallying a goal in the first week of competition.

Redshirt junior Ethan Gordon has totaled a pair of assists in the first two matches this fall, the fourth and fifth of his career, and currently leads the BIG EAST.

Through the last eight seasons, DePaul has compiled a 6-7-6 record in the match following a draw. Â

Head coach Mark Plotkin and his staff have trusted the depth in the 2025 team, using 19 players in the rotation in each of the first two outings. Â

Scouting the Cougars
Chicago State is 0-2 coming into Thursday's match after falling to Lindenwood and St. Thomas in early-season matches. Norris Howze is in his fourth year as head coach and led the Cougars to a 3-11-1 finish in 2024. CSU was selected to finish ninth in the Northeast Conference Coaches' Preseason Poll.

The two sides meet for just the fourth time in the series on Thursday and first time since 1987. The Blue Demons lead the series 2-0-1 including a 2-0 mark at home. DePaul has outscored the Cougars 15-7 through the first three matchups.
