Blue Demons head to Notre Dame for the second race of season
SOUTH BEND, Ind. – DePaul Cross Country travels to South Bend, Ind. to compete in the 46th Annual National Catholic Championships Invitational on Friday, Sept. 20. The men's 8k race is scheduled to begin at 2:30 p.m. CT, followed by the women's 5k at 3:15 p.m. CT, at the Burke Cross Country Course.
The Blue Demons opened the year strong, sweeping both the women's 5k and men's 6k last time out at the Huskie Opener hosted by Northern Illinois. Tessa Roe won the women's race in 17:55.26, while Kyle Clark earned the top spot for the men with a time of 18:35.61. At last year's National Catholic Championships on Sept. 20, 2024, the men placed fifth and women placed fourth in their respective races.
Twelve Catholic institutions are set to compete on Friday, including Bellarmine, Canisius, DePaul, Detroit Mercy, Lewis, Loyola Chicago, Mercyhurst, and Notre Dame. Both Notre Dame squads enter the meet ranked in the USTFCCCA top-30 poll, with the women at No. 11 and the men at No. 8 in the country.
