DePaul Stumbles Against Lindenwood Friday Evening
9/5/2025 6:46:00 PM | WOMEN'S VOLLEYBALL
Jade Dudley-Epps tops career high again with 12 kills
Springfield, Mo. – DePaul volleyball fell in a heartbreaking 3-2 decision (19-25, 25-18, 23-25, 25-23, 14-16) to Lindenwood Friday night, dropping to 2-3 on the season. The Lions improve to 3-1.
Kendall Timme logged her first career double-double with 15 kills and 12 digs, while Jade Dudley-Epps posted a new career-high of 12 kills at a .556 clip. Katelynn Oxley also earned her new career-high, with 11 kills on the day.
Eva Hurrle led the defense with 23 digs, while Amanda Saeger paced the team's passing with 36 assists.
"Another tough battle for us tonight," said head coach Marie Zidek.
"What we've learned is the importance of holding on to quality in everything we do and adjusting to our opponent more quickly. There were stretches where we controlled the game, and we fought hard, but we need to raise our level in every area.
If we commit to being motivated – to training harder, to refining our game, and to pushing ourselves in every detail – then we can find the next gear. These challenges must sharpen our focus and dedication to development. Every loss can serve our growth if we let it and that is what will prepare us for the future."
Lindenwood was led by Ashley Geluck with 17 kills.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
SET ONE
Lindenwood gained an early two-point edge after a service ace and DePaul attack error that it retained the rest of the way, leading by as many as 11 in the middle of the set. Despite a pair of 4-0 scoring runs from the Blue Demons, the Lions closed the opening frame, 25-16.
SET TWO
The sides swapped brief runs until the Blue Demon middle blockers took over, with Scholz and Dudley-Epps denying Shannon Monahan at the net to jumpstart DePaul winning six of the next seven points. The Blue Demons did not look back, sealing the set win with a Scholz kill, 25-18.
SET THREE
Lindenwood had a brief three-point lead, 10-7, before DePaul won four of the next five points to even the set at 11 points. The squads traded kills for ten straight points late in the frame, until kills from Geluck and Monahan concluded the set, 25-23, in favor of the Lions.
SET FOUR
An early 4-0 run, set up by two service aces from Dudley-Epps, gave DePaul the boost they needed to lead the rest of the frame, with Diana, Oxley, Timme and Dudley-Epps each contributing a pair of kills. Despite the Lions pulling within two points late, another pair of late kills from Timme proved to be the difference and DePaul secured the fourth set, 25-23.
SET FIVE
The Lions gained a narrow two-point lead early, but DePaul clawed back to even the deciding set at six. The teams traded points the rest of the way through until a block and then a kill from Autumn Bax earned the Lions the final set, 16-14.
