Blue Demons head to Richmond, Va. for pair of matches
RICHMOND, Va. – After a tight opening weekend at home, DePaul men's tennis turns its attention to the road for a pair of matches Jan. 30–31 at the Thalhimer Tennis Center, facing VCU (1-1) and ETSU (2-3). The Blue Demons will open the trip against VCU on Friday at 1 p.m. CT before closing the weekend with a neutral-site matchup against ETSU on Saturday at 10 a.m. CT. Live coverage is unavailable for Saturday's match.
Last Time Out
DePaul opened the 2026 campaign with a narrow 4-3 setback to Cleveland State on Friday, Jan. 23, at XS Tennis Village. The opener featured several close results, including four singles matches decided in three sets. Alejandro Gandini earned a straight-set win at No. 2, while Andy Hadziabdic and Sebastian Medica each posted three-set victories to keep the Blue Demons within striking distance throughout the match. Sunday's scheduled home match against Toledo was later canceled due to forecasted inclement weather and will not be rescheduled.

DePaul enters the weekend after a 2025 season that included a return to the ITA national rankings for the first time since 2015 and consecutive appearances in the rankings for the first time since 2012. The Blue Demons were led by Hadziabdic's team-high 21 wins, with Pablo Torres Almeida adding 19 and Tobias Leitner contributing 16. Matteo Iaquinto anchored the top of the lineup throughout the spring, earning seven victories at the No. 1 position.

- Returns multiple All-SoCon performers, including First Team Singles selection Peter Kalocsai.
- Martin Vergara was named SoCon Player of the Week on Jan. 27 after helping ETSU secure a 7-0 win over Tusculum.
- Led by Director of Tennis Ricky Rojas, who oversees both the men's and women's programs and has guided ETSU to multiple conference championships and NCAA Tournament appearances.
