Men’s tennis falls 5-2 in Richmond, Va.

RICHMOND, Va. – DePaul men's tennis came up short Saturday morning at the Thalhimer Tennis Center, falling 5-2 in a neutral-site decision to ETSU. The Blue Demons earned a pair of singles victories but were unable to recover after the Buccaneers claimed the doubles point to open the match.

At the No. 2 doubles position, Augusto Pardo Cano and Sebastian Medica fell 6-4, followed by a 6-3 result against Sven Moser and Thomas Giles at No. 3. The top court between Alejandro Gandini and Pablo Torres Almeida and ETSU's Oscar Martinez and Martin Vergara was halted with the score tied at 4-4, allowing ETSU to secure the doubles point.

On the singles side, ETSU picked up straight-set victories at the No. 1 and No. 4 positions to extend its lead. DePaul answered at the bottom of the lineup, as Augusto Pardo Cano earned a 6-4, 6-3 win at No. 6 before Sebastian Medica followed with a three-set decision at No. 5 to bring the Blue Demons within one point.

ETSU answered with wins at the No. 3 and No. 2 positions to clinch the dual and close out the 5-2 result.
