DePaul’s Chelsea Parker Named to BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll

Sophomore first baseman posted .667 average across five games
CHICAGO -- DePaul softball's Chelsea Parker continued her torrid start to the season over the weekend, earning a BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll selection, the first of her career.
Parker powered DePaul's offense at the Fonseca Memorial Tournament, batting 10-for-15 (.667) across five games. The sophomore first baseman accounted for six of DePaul's eight runs on the weekend, launching three home runs in the five-game slate.
In DePaul's 5-4 win over Yale, Parker went a perfect 4-for-4 at the plate with three RBIs. In the weekend finale against South Florida, the West Lafayette, Ind., native provided DePaul's lone run with a solo home run in the sixth inning. She also drew four walks in the contest, including two intentional passes.
For the season, Parker is hitting .559, which ranks second in the BIG EAST. She leads the conference in hits (19), RBIs (16), home runs (4) and total bases (38).
The Blue Demons return to action Friday, Feb. 20 at the Jax State Tournament in Jacksonville, Ala. The three-day, five-game slate features Gardner-Webb, Northwestern State and host Jacksonville State.
