Blue Demons Face Pirates Wednesday

NEWARK, N.J. – DePaul men's basketball meets Seton Hall for the second time this season as the Blue Demons travel to New Jersey for a midweek matchup on Wednesday, Feb. 18. Tipoff is set for 8 p.m. CT on truTV with Brandin Gaudin and Greg Anthony on the call and Nabil Karim reporting from the sideline. Zach Zaidman and Dave Corzine will have the DePaul radio broadcast on Sirius XM and the DePaul Blue Demons app.
LAST TIME OUT
DePaul (13-12, 5-9 BIG EAST) secured a thrilling 72-71 victory over Creighton last Wednesday, capped by a Brandon Maclin layup in the closing seconds.
NJ Benson delivered a dominant performance with 23 points and 10 rebounds while shooting 10-of-11 from the field. Maclin added 17 points, while Layden Blocker chipped in 11. The win marked DePaul's first victory over Creighton since 2015.
THE SERIES
Seton Hall leads the all-time series 26-11, though the last six meetings are evenly split at 3-3. DePaul has won the last two matchups against the Pirates, including a 67-60 victory earlier this season at Wintrust Arena. In that contest, the Blue Demons recorded a season-high 10 blocks, led by CJ Gunn's 19-point performance. DePaul's last road win at Seton Hall came in 2019.
SCOUTING SETON HALL
Seton Hall (18-8, 8-7 BIG EAST) enters Wednesday's contest riding back-to-back conference wins, including a 63-56 road victory at Butler on Sunday. The Pirates are 11-3 at home this season, highlighted by wins in their last three home games.
Budd Clark leads the Pirates with 12.5 points per game and averages 4.8 assists, ranking fourth in the BIG EAST.
Defensively, Seton Hall ranks among the nation's best, sitting 12th nationally in defensive efficiency. The Pirates lead the BIG EAST in blocks per game (5.7), scoring defense (65.0), turnover margin (+3.8) and steals per game (9.5).
