DePaul Defeated on the Road Saturday

PROVIDENCE – DePaul men's basketball battled on the road Saturday afternoon but couldn't slow Providence's offense, falling 90-72 at Amica Mutual Pavilion. The Blue Demons were led by 17 points from Brandon Maclin, while Kaleb Banks and NJ Benson added 11 and 10, respectively.
Benson paced DePaul on the glass with seven rebounds, while Layden Blocker and CJ Gunn dished out three assists apiece.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Gunn scored DePaul's first seven points as the Blue Demons (12-12, 4-9 BIG EAST) kept pace early after Providence (10-13, 3-9 BIG EAST) grabbed a slim lead. A second-chance basket by Fabián Flores pulled DePaul within one, 10-9. Providence answered with a 7-0 run to gradually stretch the margin and take a 43-26 lead late in the first half.
DePaul came out of the break sharp, connecting on six-straight field goals to trim the deficit to 49-36. The Frairs responded with eight unanswered points, pushing their lead to 62-40. The Blue Demons continued to compete, highlighted by a scoop-and-score from Blocker, but Providence maintained control down the stretch.

- Maclin recorded his 10th game of the season in double-digit scoring while eclipsing 500 points in his career.
- DePaul's 70 field goal attempts marked the most in a non-overtime game since Dec. 25, 2022.
- Banks had his fifth double-digit scoring game of the season and 30th of his career.
- Théo Pierre-Justin tied a personal-best in conference play with five rebounds, including a career-high two offensive boards.
