Women’s Basketball Returns to Wintrust Arena Tuesday to Take on St. John’s

Red Storm and Blue Demons tipoff at 6 p.m.
CHICAGO – After six days off from competition, DePaul women's basketball returns to the court Wednesday, Feb. 10 to take on St. John's. Tipoff from Wintrust Arena is set for 6 p.m. with coverage streamed on ESPN+.

Demon Doings
With less than a month remaining in the regular season, the Blue Demons look to make a push toward the postseason with six games left on the docket. DePaul is 5-20 overall and 2-12 in BIG EAST games after falling to top-ranked UConn 86-40 Wednesday, Feb. 4. Junior guard Kate Novik had 10 points, nine rebounds and five assists to lead DePaul while Michelle Ojo also added 10 points.
Novik leads DePaul with 12.0 points per game, 6.4 rebounds and 3.6 assists per contest. Novik's assist figure ranks eighth in the BIG EAST. Sophomore guard Devin Hagemann has increased her offensive production over the last three weeks, averaging 9.8 points on 42-percent shooting from distance in the last five games.
As a team, DePaul leads the BIG EAST in offensive rebounds per game with 13.7. The Blue Demons average 10.8 second chance points per game on the offensive boards.
Scouting St. John's
The Red Storm have won three in and a row and are 19-7 on the season and 9-6 in league play. St. John's most recently edged Seton Hall 67-61 Saturday afternoon at home. Junior guard Brooke Moore paces the Johnnies in scoring with 12.7 points per game to go with 5.1 rebounds per contest. St. John's tops the BIG EAST and ranks top-30 nationally in blocks at 4.9 per game. Joe Tartamella is in his 14th season leading the program in Queens.
Series Stuff
The Blue Demons hold a 27-9 edge in the all-time series with the Red Storm including a 12-5 mark in games played in Chicago. St. John's won the first meeting between the two teams this season with a 75-58 decision at Carnesecca Arena Jan. 1. The Blue Demons were outscored 26-8 in the third quarter which proved to be the difference. Alayna West had a team-high 14 points for DePaul while Michelle Ojo shot 6-for-7 from the field and added 12 points. Since joining the BIG EAST in 2005, the Blue Demons have dropped both regular season meetings to the Johnnies just once in 2022-23.
