NEW YORK – DePaul men's basketball opens play at the 2026 BIG EAST Tournament as the No. 6 seed, its highest in program history. The Blue Demons face No. 11 Georgetown on Wednesday, March 11 at Madison Square Garden in an 8 p.m. CT tip. The game will be broadcast on Peacock with John Fanta, Donny Marshall and Caroline Pineda on the call. Zach Zaidman and Dave Corzine have DePaul's radio broadcast on Sirius XM and the DePaul Blue Demons App.
The winner of Wednesday night's game advances to Thursday's quarterfinals against third-seeded Villanova. That game is scheduled for an 8:30 p.m. CT tip on FS1.
LAST TIME OUT
DePaul (16-15, 8-12 BIG EAST) closed out the regular season against Butler, falling 81-71. NJ Benson had a personal-best in conference play with 24 points, in addition to 10 rebounds for his fifth double-double of the season. The Blue Demons' defense held Butler without a field goal for the final eight minutes of the game but couldn't complete the comeback attempt.
The Blue Demons finished the regular season with the second-most BIG EAST wins in program history and highest seed in the tournament.
THE SERIES
Georgetown leads the all-time series 35-17, however, DePaul has won eight of the last 12 meetings. The two teams meet in the BIG EAST Tournament for the second-straight season, DePaul won last year's quarterfinal matchup.
The two teams split the regular-season series with DePaul earning a 58-50 win at home, while the Hoyas won 70-61 in D.C. Georgetown has a 3-2 advantage all-time in neutral site games between the two teams, but DePaul is 2-1 against the Hoyas in the BIG EAST Tournament.
SCOUTING GEORGETOWN
Georgetown (14-17, 6-14 BIG EAST) ended its regular season with an 80-79 win over Providence behind a 25-point, 10-rebound double-double from Vince Iwuchukwu. As a team, the Hoyas shot 52.5 percent while outscoring Providence 46-22 in the paint, snapping a seven-game losing skid for Georgetown. On the season, the Hoyas are 4-10 in away and neutral site contests.
Since an injury to KJ Lewis in late February, Malik Mack and Iwuchukwu lead Georgetown in scoring with 13.7 and 11.9 points, respectively.
